ACS Saves the Day

A day trip was nearly ruined when a family was let down by their regular supplier. They went directly to an operator, to charter a King Air 200 for a day return trip from Fernandina Beach to Decatur. However the operator had double booked and the client was left without an aircraft.

They called ACS, unsure whether an alternative private air charter could be found within the day of the flight. ACS’ Mark Gaza was not only available to find an alternative aircraft with another operator, but also make arrangements for car transport. The client was able to take their trip as planned with the peace of mind that ACS had organized everything, from the aircraft of their choice to taking them to and from the airport.

A quick hop for dinner in Montreal

When a client rang ACS New York wanting to fly out from upstate New York after a business meeting, for dinner with friends in Montreal Andy Christie set about finding him a suitable aircraft.

Andy was able to find a Piper Navajo, a light piston aircraft which could reposition into Albany NY to meet the client. The short flight was made over the boarder into Canada to allow the client an evening with friends. All of the passenger’s paper work was completed before the aircraft departed for Canada ensuring no delays on arrival. The client was able to make it back in time for his transatlantic flight back to Europe the following day.

Air Taxi was the ideal solution for this client for the short trip he wished to make, enabling him to make the most of his leisure time. Private chartering meant no waiting around at airports and no delays at passport control and immigration, just like getting into a taxi.

Air Charter Service opens Asia office in Hong Kong

Last May we opened our fifth office in Hong Kong. ACS has positioned itself to benefit from the growing Asia-Pacific and Australasian market which has seen exceptional growth in private jet usage with official figures showing that since 2003 Hong Kong International Airport has seen steady year on year growth of between 35 and 40% in executive jet movements through it’s Business Aviation Centre, a trend which is set to continue throughout Asia.

Heading up the Asia-Pacific team is Mike Walsh with 12 years aviation experience, who has relocated from the firm’s London office and is to be supported by charter brokers, trained by ACS in London to handle both passenger and cargo enquiries. Yan Fang, Thomas Chan and Stephen Fernandez join the Hong Kong team bringing the languages needed to provide the highest levels of service, namely Cantonese, Mandarin, English and Korean. Soon to join the team is office manager Money Cheng who is also tri-lingual and has worked in aviation for five years with Chinese carriers.

Mike Walsh, Director, ACS Hong Kong said: "Serving the Asia-Pacific region from Hong Kong see’s the realisation of a long term dream for ACS and the opening of the office here has been driven by our analysis of customer demand. This is a huge opportunity for ACS and we have now secured a permanent office in the Central district of Hong Kong. Business in Hong Kong, China and the region in general is undertaken face-to-face so it was vital that we established a key team here in China.”

Tony Bauckham, Managing Director, ACS said: "This is a significant move for ACS, our established global offices network in London, New York, Dubai and Moscow have seen an overall increase in flights consisting of both passenger and cargo of 285% over the last four years and we know that by expanding our presence into Asia these growth figures will be sustained.”

Flying high over Manhattan

This October ACS provided assistance for a European prime minister who needed to get to an environmental conference in Up State NY from Manhattan where he was to be a guest speaker.

Air Charter Service sourced a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter to transport the 8 passengers, including the prime minister, his aides and two secret service agents to the conference. This was a technical flight to arrange because of the tight security over Manhattan airspace. The flight had to be coordinated with the secret service in order to get clearance permission to use NYC helipads. It was vital to get the clearances so that there was no stop required en route, which would have delayed the passengers as they were on a very tight schedule. Where other helicopters would have to stop in order to get clearance to fly over Manhattan, ACS’ clients were able to fly straight through as Andy Christie had ensured that everything was in place before the flight took place.
